Gregg's Blog - Dr Rupy

I did a live Instagram chat this morning centred around my interview on my podcast with Dr Rupy who is on Instagram as The Kitchen Doctor. The reason I’m putting this down now in a blog as I was very encouraged by Dr Claire Phipps (who is the menopause GP) during the live chat. She messaged to say, "this is fantastic advice Gregg", so there you are... putting it down in a blog.

What Doctor Ruby said is this, very simply, eat now for your health, please don’t wait to change until you are unwell. Do something now!

Dr Rupy‘s story is quite remarkable. He grew up in a Punjabi household full of good food and plenty of vegetables, when he became a junior doctor, he started eating snacks and takeaways not linking food at all with his health was surprised and dismayed to find he was having heart problems.

His mother suggested that was because his diet was bad all the snacking all the takeaways at the time. He thought this was ridiculous but to placate his mother he changed his diet, started preparing his own food in her style and taking it into work.

He was amazed to find that his health had improved and continued to improve while he was eating good food to the point where he had no health issues whatsoever anymore.

This obviously impressed him considerably and he began to wonder why, as an NHS doctor, he had had no training at all in Nutrition.

He now recommends a healthy diet to his patients before he prescribes medicines. His lesson is very simple: Eat well for your health, do it now, don’t wait until you are unwell. What you are eating can improve your health or damage it, please do take care of yourself by eating correctly.

I’m on a cruise ship right now and I’ve been sharing a drink in the evening with another doctor whose family originate from India. This particular doctor is a little older than me so he’s old school, he’s also got a knighthood. I’ve been discussing health and nutrition with him and he talks about how doctors of his generation were too quick to hand out medicines and the new wave of younger doctors are making a serious study of nutrition and the health benefits of a good diet.

There you have it you can obviously lose a lot of weight painlessly by eating the right foods. You can also guarantee better health. Moreover, if you are eating badly, you will be damaging your health, the choice as always is down to you. We are here to help.
